#DC #NewSeries Creature Commandos

Dec 2024; DC's Monster Mash: Creature Commandos Assemble for Animated Mayhem ...

Move over, Avengers! There's a new team in town, and they're not your average superheroes. DC Studios is unleashing its own band of misfits in the upcoming animated series "Creature Commandos," and if the trailer is any indication, we're in for a wild ride.

Forget about caped crusaders and men of steel. This ragtag group of monsters is ready to save the world - or at least cause some entertaining chaos trying. Led by the no-nonsense Amanda Waller (voiced by the incomparable Viola Davis), this motley crew includes Frankenstein's monster, a werewolf, and even a robot.

It's like Universal's classic monster movies met "The Dirty Dozen" and decided to have a party. The series, set to debut on Max in December 2024, promises to be a refreshing departure from the typical superhero fare.

It's part of James Gunn's ambitious plan to revitalize the DC Universe, and if anyone can make monsters lovable, it's the guy who made us care about a talking raccoon and a sentient tree.

But don't expect this to be a kiddie show. The trailer hints at a "hard R" rating, with Gunn describing it as "humorous but never goofy" and packed with adult themes. It's like your childhood nightmares grew up, joined the military, and developed a wicked sense of humor.

The voice cast is equally impressive, featuring David Harbour as Frankenstein's monster (because if anyone can make reanimated corpses charming, it's Hopper from "Stranger Things"), and Frank Grillo as Rick Flag Sr. (presumably teaching monsters how to salute without accidentally decapitating themselves).

As for the plot? Well, it seems these creatures will be tackling missions too dangerous for mere mortals. Because when you need to save the world, who better to call than a team that includes a man made of toxic waste and a robot with an identity crisis?

So, mark your calendars, folks. Come December 2024, it's time to root for the monsters. After all, in a world of superheroes, sometimes it takes a freak to get the job done. And who knows? By the end of it, we might all be wishing we could join Task Force M.

Remember to pack some silver bullets and garlic - you know, just in case.
